Eating Out!!
December 2007
The Red Lion,
This pub, in the village, supplies good food, beautifully cooked at a reasonable price, efficiently served by friendly and attentive staff. Thursday Night Sizzler (Two 2-course meals for £15) is excellent value.
Just before Christmas, we tried their Christmas Fayre Menu and it was a very reasonably priced delight. The portions were more than adequate, freshly prepared and served with a smile and friendly word, and, although the Restaurant was quite busy when we went, the service was quick and efficient.
I shall be trying to use this restaurant, right on our doorstep, as often as I can.
This is becoming such a popular place to eat that it is imperative that you phone Simon to book a table. . .on 01455 290265

January 2008,
The Cinnamon Tree.
This Restaurant in Battram ( used to be the Long Flame Public House) has recently been refurbished. It is now a beautiful, Indian Restaurant (take-away service also available) where the food is all freshly cooked to your exact liking. The service, by immaculate
staff (including the joint owners) is second to none. We ate there on Jan 12th and the portions were more than enough (and I CAN eat !!!!), each course was piping hot, and the choice is wide and varied. It is not too expensive. . . the meal for the two of us, including drinks, came to £40.. . .but the food and service was much better than I have had at Indian Restaurants in Leicester where I have paid a lot more. I shall certainly be visiting there more often. . . . . .despite the effect it will have on my waistline !!!!!

February 2008
I revisited this Restaurant and found that the food, service and everything else was as good as before. . . if not better. And, for a real test, I took with me a Pakistani lady who declared that the whole experience was first rate. We had with us, at the time, a small baby and all the staff made time to smile and talk to him as they passed. A really unforgettable evening !!!
July 23rd 2008
Back again. . . if anything they just get better and better and now they also have their own website that is worth a visit at http://www.cinnamontree.co.uk

June 6th 2008.
We visited the Windmill, at Brascote, this evening, and had a really good meal served by friendly and efficient staff in a very comfortable restaurant. At the moment, they have a "Special" where you have 2 meals and a bottle of wine for £11.99. The food was piping hot, nicely presented and served. The portions were adequate. . . but we had room for a sweet (Try the Toffee Lumpy Pumpy. . . it's worth the extra calories !!!). All in all, we had two drinks at the bar before eating, the "Special" and two Sweets and the whole outing only cost just over £25....................and that was VERY good value. Whilst I was there, I had a look at the "normal" menu and saw that it was quite extensive with a good choice of dishes. . . . .plus, there is always a "Specials" board. . . and, although not cheap, was interesting enough for me to want to return and try something different !!!!
All in all, a nice, friendly place, serving well-cooked and presented food at a reasonable price. If you want to go, you'll HAVE to book !!!!
