Morning, all,
Just
a couple of things this morning...............................first of
all, just in case we do get the threatened "Cold Snap", don't forget
that one of our fellow-newsletter-readers has some Rock Salt that he can
make available, at a very reasonable price, should anyone want some.
His Mobile Number is 0780 3966503.
First Steps Playgroup would
like to create a Winter Wonderland at the Old School Hall, for their
sing-around-the-Christmas-tree on Monday December 12th. .. . and their
Leaders were wondering if anyone has any "redundant" sets of Christmas
Lights that they would be willing to donate?? If you havem then, please
let me know and I will put them in touch with you.................Thank
you.

My
Brother lives in Bedfordshire, and they are (in my opinion) lucky
enough to still have the old Ringmaster System for the Police to
communicate with NHW groups throughout the County. He received this
message from them which, although I have not heard of anything like it
in our area, could still apply to us. . . . . .so, please. . . . . .be
aware !!!
Bedfordshire Police is warning residents to be extra cautious regarding
the information they give out over the telephone after receiving reports
of a bogus telephone caller.
So far six reports have been
received over the last two days from residents in the Dunstable and
Houghton Regis areas of the county.
A man has contacted the
residents posing as a police officer and told them that a warrant is out
for their arrest and their house will be raided.
Although
confused and concerned about the threat luckily the residents have not
given out any personal details and contacted the police who have
confirmed the calls are a hoax.
Officers would like to urge other
residents who have received similar calls to report the matter to the
force so action can be taken to trace and stop the hoax caller.
Police are taking this opportunity to remind members of the public not to
give out any personal information over the telephone or to anyone who calls at their home unsolicited.
Residents
are also reminded that they should always check the identification of
any caller who visits their home before letting them in, and remember, a
representative from any bona fide organisation, including the police,
will be happy for their credentials to be checked.
Anyone with
information about these calls can contact the Police, in
confidence, on 101.
Alternatively contact the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111, or online at crimestoppers-uk.org.

It
is getting towards the "Festive Season" now, and I have to remind you
that all sorts of "unsavoury" people read Facebook. . . .so, please, do
not advertise the fact that you are going away. . . . .and for how long.
You should tell your neighbours AND leave them with a contact number,
but DON'T broadcast. . . . or let your children broadcast. . . the
details of your holiday on ANY of the Social Networking Sites.
Regards,
Paul
