As you may, or may not know, there is a service, in this
area, called the Community First Responders. This is a scheme, run by
volunteers, but attached to the Ambulance Service.
The system works like this. . . . . . . should you be
unfortunate enough to have to ring 999 for an Ambulance because of an
emergency, then the Operator, as well as sending an Ambulance, and/or a
Paramedic, to you, will also call up whichever First Responder is on duty in
our area. They will immediately drop whatever they are doing and come to your
assistance (they will normally be with you much sooner than the Ambulance or
Paramedic) and render First Aid until further help arrives.
This is a wonderfully worthwhile scheme which relies on
volunteers, and, therefore, is always looking to recruit and train as many
people as possible. There is no minimum number of hours that you MUST be
on call. . . . , as I said, it is purely a voluntary scheme. . . . so you can
be on call for as much, or as little as suits you and your family.
If you have some free time. . . . are 25 years old or more.
. . . have a full, clean Driving Licence. . . . . and are willing to help your
local community, then please contact Derek on 07958122633 for a chat. If, after
your chat with him, you want to carry on, then full training will be given,
either in your own home, or if there are several people available at the same
time, at a mutually convenient location.
Don’t hesitate. . . phone Derek on 07958122633 at any time
during the day. . . .. . he could, of course, be on duty and unable to reply,
but, if so, please leave him your name and phone number and he’ll call you back
as soon as he can.
Thank you.
